How IV Therapy Works
IV therapy delivers fluids, vitamins, and minerals directly into your bloodstream through a small catheter in a vein. By skipping the digestive system, it reaches near-complete absorption and takes effect quickly — the same reason hospitals use IV delivery for fluids and medications.
The one concept that explains everything: absorption
Swallow a supplement and it has to survive stomach acid, cross the gut wall, and pass through the liver — which filters out a share before it reaches circulation. You often absorb only a fraction. An IV bypasses that entirely.

What's typically in a drip
- A saline fluid base for hydration.
- Electrolytes — sodium, potassium, magnesium.
- B-vitamins and vitamin C for energy metabolism and antioxidant support.
- Optional add-ons — glutathione, extra B12, anti-nausea, and more, by goal.
What a session is like
- A licensed provider reviews your health history and checks you're a good candidate.
- They place a small IV catheter — a brief pinch.
- You relax for 30–60 minutes while the drip runs.
- You're done, with no downtime.
Is it right for you?
IV therapy is generally well tolerated for healthy adults, but it isn't for everyone. People with heart, kidney, or blood-pressure conditions — or who are pregnant — should clear it with their physician first, since fluid and electrolyte loads matter in those situations. A good clinic screens for exactly this.
